Disaster Relief in Haiti
Your continued support is needed for earthquake victims in Port-au-Prince and surrounding areas. Please contact us today to find out how you can help!
Kamil's team for Wyoming Haiti Relief is currently traveling to Port-Au-Prince, Haiti, and staying until July 24, 2010. While there, they will be delivering prostheses to amputees who were casted on previous trips and possibly cast additional patients. This is the team's third trip.
Casts had been brought back to Casper and prostheses were built at Precision Prosthetics & Orthotics' lab. Kamil and the team will be sending daily updates to the office, so please check the website often to stay informed. You may also follow us on Facebook under "Wyoming Prosthetics." Thank you to everyone for the donations of components and supplies, well-wishes, and prayers.
We continue to be in great need of materials to make the finished prosthetics—any financial donations can be made to Wyoming Haiti Relief and either dropped off at Precision Prosthetics & Orthotics or Wyoming Haiti Relief headquarters. In addition, we have started an Adopt an Amputee program for community members to sponsor an individual in Haiti in need of a prosthetic limb. If you are interested in sponsoring a Haitian, you will receive a picture and progress updates. Please contact the office for information on this program.
Along with Wyoming Haiti Relief and Haitian Alliance, Kamil will be building a clinic and working with the local practitioners and technicians to build prostheses and help them with new techniques. If you would like to donate to this cause or get more information, visit the website www.wyominghaitirelief.org.
Kamil Leman has also volunteered to go to Haiti with the Healing Hands for Haiti International Foundation. There is an estimated 70 amputations a day and the people there are desperately in need of skilled practitioners. Kamil will be using his skills and knowledge as a prosthetist and orthotist to help the people in Haiti who have lost limbs or suffered other injuries.
To help, please donate any old braces or prosthetic devices so that Kamil can take the components to Haiti and turn them into new prosthetic and orthotic devices. Please bring your donation to Precision Prosthetics & Orthotics at 5810 E 2nd, Suite 300, in the Foothills Professional Offices.
